A basic human right
Dear Readers!
For what reason is it legally permitted and even subsidised by the state that a basic human right that is essential to life, such as habitable and heatable accommodation, can be abused or disregarded by various parties?
As a rule, people are indirectly forced each month to cede a considerable amount of their earnings to a landlord who is able to dictate the tenants' quality of life, the rent and the right to housing. If people were free to make their own decisions in this respect by being allowed to create their own habitable accommodation, then at least the basic right to habitable accommodation would be protected from abuse by others.
In principle, there is nothing wrong with renting out flats as a financial investment, but there must be no gain or financial erosion of the landlord's property by the tenants and no money must be generated or make any gains from renting out a flat.
In principle, it is the task of the state to ensure this basic human right by providing citizens with the opportunity to lease affordable homes! The citizen has the right to the protection of the state through permanently habitable and heatable accommodation, which for each citizen may amount to a maximum of a quarter of their earnings as a lease payment.
The state is also not allowed to enrich itself from people's right to housing, but is obliged to secure and cover the need for housing and homes for future generations through the scheduled lease payments of citizens.
Why is it that in the 21st century there is no statutory basic right to habitable, heatable and affordable accommodation for people? Why is it possible to be blackmailed by any landlord, especially by allowing the landlord to dictate the price of a basic human right and earn money from it?
